Roles and Responsibilities
The Academic Council ensures the quality of academic activities by fostering a healthy academic environment and enhancing the learning experience for students. It conducts regular meetings, convened by the Member Secretary with the Head of the Institute's approval, at least twice a year and as needed. The council's roles and responsibilities include:
Reviewing and discussing prescribed courses of study, academic regulations, curricula, and instructional and evaluation arrangements. It provides opinions, comments, and modification requests to the affiliating university for consideration.
Developing admission regulations for various programs in accordance with university and government norms.
Establishing regulations for the conduct of Continuous Evaluation and Assessment (CEA) and implementing measures to improve teaching quality, student evaluation, and the student advisory system.
Formulating policies to enhance Teaching-Learning Processes (TLP) through innovative teaching methods, the integration of ICT tools, and identifying teaching needs.
Creating regulations for sports, extracurricular activities, and ensuring the proper maintenance and functioning of playgrounds and hostels.
Recommending new program proposals to the Governing Body for consideration.
Recommending the institution of scholarships, studentships, fellowships, prizes, and medals. It also formulates regulations for their fair distribution.
Providing advice to the Governing Body on academic matters and offering suggestions.
Encouraging faculty members to engage in sponsored research, industrial consultancy, continuing education, and related activities.
Undertaking any other functions assigned by the Governing Body.
By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Academic Council plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the overall quality of academic activities within the institution.
